The police have strongly denied reports circulating on social media that the Portmore police seized more than J$11 million from a group of gunmen on Friday.

The reports claim several guns were also seized in the police operation.

Senior Superintendent Clive Blair, commanding officer for the St Catherine South Police, told Radio Jamaica News however that the reports relating to the arrests of seven men are inaccurate
He said the men were intercepted in a vehicle along the Newsland main road after the police responded to calls pertaining to a disturbance in Naggo Head, Friday night
SSP Blair said the men were processed and five of them released
He said no money or illegal weapon was seized
